Athboy woman set to chop her locks for charity
After weeks of fundraising, Athboy woman Fiona Hamill Reilly will will ‘chop’ 12 inches of her hair this Thursday May 27th to donate to Childhood Cancer Foundation Ireland.
Fiona, whom many will know through her role as secretary of Athboy St Patrick’s Day committee, is carrying out this fundraiser for their wonderful campaign ‘The Little Princess Trust’.
The charity help provide a free, real hair, wig to any child and young person (up to 24 years) who has lost their own hair through cancer treatment, or other conditions. Popular Meath hair stylist, Aisling Byrne, will be on hand to carry out the task. Fiona will also be encouraged and cheered on by her four young children and her husband, Cormac Reilly.
You can show your support by donating to Childhood Cancer Foundation Ireland (CHY 21198.) The charity was formed in 2013 by parents and family members of children with cancer to ensure that no family should face cancer alone.
Your support will help their campaign to refurbish isolation rooms in regional hospitals for children with cancer. It will also support programmes such as the Beads of Courage (TM) and play services of St. John's Day Unit. These programmes help children with a cancer diagnosis to understand medical procedures they have to have. They also help them cope with the anxiety, fear and stress they are feeling due to their treatment and diagnosis.
Fiona hopes that her campaign will help raise awareness for such an important cause and assures that 100% of her funding will go towards making a positive impact on the lives of young people affected by cancer, and their families.
