St Brigid's survive late rally

Both St Brigid's and St Ultan's went in search of their first win in the Tailteann Cup in Ballinacree and it was the hosts who emerged victorious with a 2-13 to 2-8 victory.

For long spells it looked as if St Brigid's would coast to victory. Stephen Browne's 11th minute goal boosted the hosts to a 1-5 to 0-4 interval lead and even though Darragh Moore had to make a couple of fine stops to keep St Ultan's at bay they managed to stretch their lead when Kevin Gilsenan netted.

Jack Blake and Cormac Browne helped stretch that lead to seven points heading into the final quarter, but in the space of three minutes St Ultan's were back in the game when they hit two goals to close the gap to just two points.

Browne, Joe Blake and Gilsenan settled the Balliancree side with late points as St Ultan's late rally faded and St Brigid's held on
