€601,000 equipment sports grants funding for Meath clubs
Over €600,000 has been allocated in equipment sports grants for sports clubs across County Meath this morning from the Department of Sport.
Thirty-six different clubs across Meath in fifteen different sporting disciplines have received funding while a separate amount under the regional sporting allocation has been made towards Athletics in Meath.
It marks the first tranche of funding this summer to clubs with the larger capital sports grants expected to be announced later this year.
Welcoming the funding this morning was Fianna Fail Seanad Spokesperson for Sport Senator Shane Cassells who stated that it was a great boost to sport in Meath.
“This allocation of €600,000 towards equipment for clubs in Meath is a massive investment and is going to make a big difference in helping clubs provide the very best in gym and training facilities for members,” remarked Senator Cassells.
“The interest from clubs this year has been huge and this first round of funding is focussed on providing equipment to clubs, which can be very expensive, so this will be a huge help.
“We’ve a growing population in Meath and clubs are constantly trying to provide the very best in facilities. This is only the first allocation with the sports capital grants expected to be made in the Autumn.
“I want to congratulate all of the successful applicants in receipt of grant funding, particularly the volunteers at club level who made the applications and are the lifeblood of clubs.”
