Garda search of flat leads to discovery of €50k worth of cannabis
An intelligence led operation undertaken by Revenue officers saw the seizure of over 2.5 kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €51,000, in Cavan today (Friday, August 13).
The drugs haul came following the search of a flat in the Baileborough area of the county. The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted between Revenue's Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Cavan and Monaghan District Drugs Unit.
A 27-year-old man was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is being detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Baileborough Garda Station. The investigations into the matter are ongoing.
This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
