Awards for Trim Tourism Network
Despite the difficulties posed by Covid-19 over the past two years which has impacted tourism directly in Trim and throughout the county, Trim Tourism Network has driven forward promoting the destination both near and far and has recently scooped two major awards for their work.
The volunteer-led network was awarded ‘Tourism Network of the Year 2021/22’ at the recent Corporate LiveWire Awards and was also received the ‘Tourism Project of the Year 2022’ award at the Irish Enterprise Awards for their Boyne Valley Twinning project.
This twinning project is built around education, economy and tourism for a mutual benefit between the Boyne Valley here in Ireland and the Boyne Valley in Michigan, USA. A professional cross Atlantic live stream event was held on 4th July last year to unveil a twinning plaque at Trim Castle and City Hall in Boyne City USA which was recognised at the awards.
Trim Tourism Network’s vice chairperson David Gorey said:
“We are thrilled to achieve these awards in recognition of our success, especially with the hard work our team of volunteers have put in over the last number of years.
“We launched the network in 2016 to try and enhance Trim as a premiere tourist destination and we can happily say that as a result of all our efforts, support of local businesses and Meath County Council representatives, Trim has been elevated as a go-to destination for overseas and staycation holidaymakers.”
