Delvin to hold family event on St Patrick’s Day
John Donlon, chair of the Delvin St Patrick’s Day parade committee, has confirmed to the Westmeath Examiner that there won’t be a parade in the town this year, but there will be a celebration of the day.
“We don’t have enough time to get a parade organised,” said John, “so this year instead we’re having a St Patrick’s Day festival, on St Patrick’s Day, which is the first time ever that we’re having something on the day itself in Delvin – we’re usually the Sunday after – so this year we’re having a family fun day.
“There will be music and lots of other entertainment in Delvin Livestock Mart, starting at 2 o’clock, and running till 5, and there will be plenty of food stall and more to entertain everybody.”
The parade committee have more plans and will announce them in due course, John said.
