Boyne Valley tourism launches 2022 campaign

As the tourism industry emerges from the grips of the Covid 19 pandemic with a renewed optimism for the season ahead, Boyne Valley Tourism has launched its campaign for 2022 under the slogan "Where the adventure begins!".

Central to their campaign is a suite of promotional videos showcasing the best of what the region has to offer which were launched last week.

The three videos take you on an adventure through the oldest and most historical landscape in Ireland with holiday inspiration for families and couples. Featuring historic monuments like Newgrange and Hill of Tara to kayaking on the Boyne to Tayto Park, there is plenty of inspiration for things to do in the region. The videos will be used to promote the Boyne Valley as a tourist destination both at home and abroad.

Boyne Valley Tourism Officer Michelle Whelansaid after two years of lockdowns people are ready for a new adventure outside their locality and the campaign aims to capture this mood and encourage people to visit the Boyne Valley. The videos were launched on the Boyne Valley Tourism Youtube channel last Wednesday and had garnered over 20,000 views in the first 24 hours.

She said: “We’ve some great new videos to highlight all you can experience in the Boyne Valley in 2022 available on YouTube and www.discoverboynevalley.ie. There is plenty to see and do in 2022 from breath-taking landscapes to rolling countryside and waterways. The Boyne Valley was also named as one of the ‘World’s Best Food Destinations’ so you won’t be short of great places to get a bite to eat.

“This summer will also see the much-loved Causey Ice Cream Adventure return, tours of Slane Castle, Loughcrew Wildlife month in February and racing at Navan, Fairyhouse, Bellewstown and the Laytown Strand. Moynalty Country Music Festival takes place on the 26th June featuring Mike Denver and Nathan Carter. There are also exciting things planned for the coming years. The Boyne Valley to Lakelands County Greenway is currently in development and will result in a 30km walkers' and cyclists' paradise along the route of the old railway line. The route also includes the recently completed looped section at Nobber and another at Castletown Kilpatrick.”

After a very challenging two years, Ms Whelan said the industry is very positive and looking forward to a good summer ahead.

"It is all about recovery now and getting back to where we were at. Hopefully we can build back up to 2019 levels of tourism again. Everyone is very positive about this year after a very tough two years for the industry."
