Works to begin on Bettystown Primary Care Centre shortly
Work is expected to begin shortly on the long awaited Primary Care Centre in Bettystown.
The work is expected to begin by March and is expected to be completed by mid summer.
The facility, which is expected to see more GPs catering for the area will be located in the Bettystown Town Centre complex, beside the Tesco store.
“This cannot come soon enough,” says local councillor, Sharon Tolan.
“I have lots of constituents who still have to travel to Dublin to see a GP.
“I believe the new facility will mean more GPs working in the area.
“I know of one practice with four doctors, but only three consulting rooms who are looking forward to moving in.”
Cllr Tolan said services at the new centre will include psychology, speech and language therapy, counselling, occupational therapy and public health nursing.
Older persons services, physiotherapy, social work, podiatry and diabetes services will also be provided at the centre.
“This really is great news. We have been campaigning for this for many years. “The centre is very accessible, especially from the new Tara Road, it is close to the school and there is great parking,” said Cllr Tolan.
Meanwhile there are proposals for a primary health care centre in Navan which is expected to deliver the largest range of health services of any such facility in the country.
The proposed €35million development at Moathill is expected to accommodate 650 medical and support staff when fully operational
This 12,412 sqm centre, which is being developed by UHPC International Ltd will features GP surgeries, dental surgeries, diagnostic imaging services, public health nursing rooms, staff facilities, and offices and will provide a new home for the out of hours doctor service, NEDoC.
The centre will be the location for the provision of Tulsa services in the region. In addition, it will house a wide range of community-based services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, mental health, speech and language therapy.
The development results from the award of the project by the HSE.
The plans include over 200 car park spaces in an undercroft car park with electric vehicle spaces, enable accessible car spaces and bicycle parking bays.
The development will also be serviced by N1 and N2 Navan Bus Service currently in operation. The location was selected by the HSE and the developer adjacent to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan.
