Ashbourne chase down Kilkenny
Some relentless, tenacious tackling helped Ashbourne secure a 21-15 victory over Kilkenny in the Leinster League Div 1A at Milltown today.
The home side made a textbook start with James McCaghy going over for a try, converted by Gavin Kennedy who also tagged on three penalties.
The home side led 16-0 at the break but in the second-half Kilkenny came storming back with Liam Caddy going over for an unconverted try and Hugh Corkery also firing over from a penalty. Kilkenny were also awarded a penalty try.
However late in the second-half Ashbourne's man-of-the-match Jake Wall also got a touchdown to help the home side secure a vital win in their quest to stave off the threat of relegation.
