Concerts in Meath to celebrate Phil Coulter’s 80 years

Phil Coulter, in his sell-out concert in the Grand Opera House, Belfast, last month to celebrate his 80th birthday, sang his tongue-in-cheek song: 'There’s life in the old dog yet'.

After a few days in Spain to celebrate, he returns to carry out more tours, and will be in Trim Castle Hotel on Sunday evening next, 20th March, as well as a charity concert in Ashbourne 10 days later.

It is 35 years since the country fell under the spell of 'Tranquility', the lush sound of Phil Coulter, his piano and orchestra. ‘Classic Tranquility’ struck a chord with the Irish people and in a few short months became the biggest selling album ever in the Irish record industry. The follow up ‘Sea of Tranquility’ even managed to outsell Classic and a phenomenon took flight!

The Tranquility series went on to reach a global audience, aided and abetted by Phil’s international touring.

His live shows played to sell our audiences from Carnegie Hall to the Nobel Peace Awards and Phil’s stature was recognised by several invitation to the White House.

Phil Coulter will play Trim Castle Hotel on Sunday alongside special guests Geraldine Branagan and George Hutton. Tickets are €25 from hotel reception or www.gr8events.ie.

The charity concert takes place at the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne, on Wednesday 30th March at 8pm, again with Geraldine Brannigan and George Hutton accompanying.

It will raise funds for Meals On Wheels and The Lions Club International Fund to support refugees and displaced persons in and from Ukraine. See www.ashbournelions.com
