Launch of STEAM backpacks by Meath County Libraries

Meath County Council Library Service has launched the STEAM backpacks collection for children aged 3-6 years.

Meta funded the project as part of their commitment to supporting STEM learning for all ages in County Meath.

The backpacks contain ready-to-use, age-appropriate, hands-on resources, and a selection of books for children and parents/carers learning together about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.

The backpacks cover a variety of topics such as magnets, animals, space, bugs, my body, coding, and much more. All are available to borrow for free from your local Meath library.

At the launch, Cathaoirleach Nick Killian said "We hope these STEAM backpacks will engage and inspire young children and their carers to engage with STEAM and will promote awareness and understanding of the importance and relevance of STEAM to everyday life".

Director of Service, Barry Lynch, said "We hope that this new collection will inspire early scientific exploration, discovery and learning which are key to developing critical thinking, problem solving and innovation in young children. We are encouraging the adults to join their child in learning, exploring and discovering together".
