Garda suffers 'serious assault' at train station in Westmeath

A man was arrested in connection with what was described as a "serious assault" on a female Garda officer at Mullingar Train Station last week.

The Garda was responding to an incident at the station on Tuesday last, and, in the process, was allegedly assaulted by a male.

A suspect was subsequently arrested and a file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
