Golden gymnasts fly the flag for Ireland - and make their community proud

Young gymnastics who are part of the Impulse Gymnastics FitKid Club in Navan have represented Ireland seven times in the FitKid European Championships - and they have done so with pride and a great deal of success too.

This year five girls competed in the World Championships in Italy and took two golds, a third place, fourth place and seventh place overall for Ireland.

Now a group of young gymnasts from the Navan club are off to seek further success abroad. Thirty one girls have qualified to represent Ireland in the forthcoming XVIII FitKid European Championships and on the I. Acro Free dance European Open Cup in Hungary from Thursday 1st December to Sunday 4th December.

At FitKid competitions, athletes present mandatory skills such as acrobatics, flexibility, gymnastics, and aerobics jumps in individual and group formations.

"We are already so proud of our European and World champions and many second, third and high rankings these athletes have won in past competitions," explained Ildiko Molnar-Kosa, Director of Fit Kid Ireland .

"But we are not only proud of their results, we are proud because they worked so hard to be better every day. They are real role models with their perseverance and how you have to work to reach your goals and dreams.

"Earlier this year, in June, five kids from the club, travelled to Cesanitico in Italy to compete and represent Ireland in the CSIT - World Sports Games. They came back to Ireland with two world titles, champions who finished in first place, in their categories, Eszter Gyongy and Kayleigh Murray. They also got bronze with Leja Zacherova and fourth place with Nevaeh Connolly. Such a massive achievement!"
