NEFL squad prepare for Shield showdown

It's final day at the MDL next Sunday when two coveted trophies are up for grabs.

The members of the NEFL Interleague squad are in line to win a piece of silverware as they take on the Kildare & District League in the Leinster FA Women's Interleague Shield final, 1pm.

That game is the curtainraiser to the LFA Interleague cup final between Combined Counties Football League and the Eastern Women's Football League at 3pm.

The NEFL squad warmed up for their Shield showdown by playing and defeating Baldoyle Utd in a friendly last weekend.

There are players from eight clubs in the NEFL represented on the squad including Duleek, Balrath, Albion Rovers, Kingscourt Harps, Torro, Parkvilla, Cootehill Harps, ParkCeltic Summerhill.

The number of clubs with players has been described by Paddy Mulreid, chairman of the NEFL's Women's Division "as a very good representation."

Head coach of the NEFL squad is Joel Patino while the assistant coach is Fintan Cooper.
