The weather was perfect for the Nally's Supervalu Trim 10 Mile road race on Sunday with the full field of 2,000 runners, which was sold out in less than seven hours last November, going to the line for the hugely popular event.

The Trim 10 Mile race has grown into the biggest mass participation events in Meath over the past eight years.

The 10 mile course was well marshalled and there was enthusiastic support along the route.

Chilly but dry and sunny conditions contributed to a very competitive race with three former winners in the shake up for mens honours before Carrick Aces AC's Yared Derese prevailed in a time of 49 minutes and four seconds ahead of Raheny Shamrock's Mick Clohisey (49:55) with Martin Hoare (50:32) from Celbridge in third.

Brother Pearse AC's Ciara Hickey won the women's race in 57 minutes, 25 seconds. Rachel Birt from Annalee AC was just under two minutes further back in second with Trim AC's Edel Gaffney taking third in 59 minutes, 24 seconds.
