Kells company hopes to raise €4,000 for Turkey and Syria in two days

A Kells company has set itself a challenge to raise €4,000 by this Thursday, to help those affected in the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

The Park Rí Destination Stop and Food Court in Kells hopes to raise funds for Irish Charity GOAL to provide life-saving support the earthquake victims. The Park Rí directors,Micheál McKeon, Damien Duffy and David Quirke have launched a fundraiser with a target to raise €4,000 by Thursday.

They will be donating all the proceeds from their Car Wash on Wednesday and are also asking their customers and the people in the area to help achieve the target by donating cash, and have placed GOAL collection boxes at each of their eight outlets in Park Rí as well as their McKeon’s Love Fresh store on Bective Street Kells.

Damien Duffy, Operations Director of Park Rí Kells said, “Like most people around the world we were horrified as details of the Turkey-Syria earthquake were released in the media. We know that we cannot help those souls that have lost their lives, but we wanted to do something for those who are suffering. As GOAL are an Irish agency with the largest operation in the affected region, and are working on the ground in the area, we choose them as the charity to donate through. Speaking to GOAL’s representative, David Burns, to agree that Park Rí could launch this funding appeal, he said that they are delighted with any support they get and explained that the money raised will go to providing shelter, blankets and heat as well as food, clean water and health / social care for those in the earthquake area.”

The Park Rí Kells team are asking their customers and members of the public to use their Car Wash tomorrow and for those who don’t own a car, they ask them to donate anything they can to their GOAL Turkey-Syria Emergency appeal and said that every cent counts.

The company will present a cheque from the proceeds of the fundraiser to a representative of GOAL after the campaign finishes on Thursday and will announce the total amount raised on the Park Rí Kells social media channels.
