Emergency services attend incident near Kingscourt

Accident involves a motorcyclist. Road closure announced.

Emergency services including members of An Garda Siochana and paramedics are at the scene of an accident near Kingscourt.

The accident occurred this evening on the R165- Kingscourt to Bailieborough Road, which is now closed "until further notice" between Caffery’s Cross and the Granada.

Its understood the accident, being described as "serious", involves a motorcyclist.

Paramedics and ambulances crews have been dispatched to the scene.

Members of Kingscourt Fire Brigade are also in attendance.

An update from Cavan Fire Service says "the R165 between Kingscourt and Bailieborough will be closed between Caffery’s Cross and the Granada in both directions until further notice".

Diversions are in place.
