Yellow thunderstorm warning for Leinster
A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for six counties by Met Éireann.
The warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow will come into place at 1pm this afternoon.
The forecaster said there is the potential for spot flooding and hazardous travelling conditions in these areas as a result of the weather.
Despite the downpour, the warm weather of recent days is likely to continue on Thursday, with highs of 13 to 16 degrees.
The warning will come to an end at 7pm this evening.
