Cushinstown AC's young athletes impress on a number of fronts

The Leinster Childrens Games and Juvenile u-12 and u-13 championships took place on Sunday June 4th in Tullamore and Cushinstown AC had five of our younger athletes competing.
In the pairs event Tadgh McMahon and Oscar Cudden threw brilliantly in the u-10 boys turbo javelin to claim silver medals. Emma Moore and Lauren Hetherton ran brilliantly in the girls u-10 60m sprints and jumped very well in the u-10 long jump. In the u-13 shot putt Keelin Hetherton put in some great throws to get through to the last eight coming seventh overall.
The final weekend of the Meath Championships saw our u-12 - u-16s compete in Navan on Saturday evening May 20th and in Dunboyne on Sunday morning May 21st. Our young athletes came home with a nice collection of medals.
Roisin Quinn u-16 Bronze medal in long jump and Shot Put, Peter Bellew, u-16 gold in long jump, shot putt and high jump, Isabelle Lourens u-15 gold in shot putt, Nessa Rohan u-15 bronze in long jump and shot putt, Andrea Lourens, u-14 silver in sprints, Emille Lourens u-[14 gold in long jump, silver in shot putt, silver 200m, Rhys Doyle u-14 bronze in sprints, Lucy Morrison u-12 Silver in sprints, bronze in long jump, Cian Rohan u-12 gold in turbo javelin and silver in high jump.
Meath Championships in Fr Murphys AC, Ratoath Ac, Dunboyne AC and Cushinstown AC
The Meath Championships were in full swing giving our Cushinstown AC athletes plenty of competition. Fr Murphys AC hosted the throws on a wet Friday evening May 5th and Zoe Mohan put in some great throws winning gold with a throw of 40.13m in the Senior Women Hammer Event.
In Ratoath Day 1 of the u-9-u-11 Meath Championships took place on Saturday evening May 6th and Cushinstown AC had some of our younger athletes competing for the first time in the 60m and long jump events where they gained valuable competition experience. In glorious sunshine in Dunboyne AC on Sunday afternoon May 7th some of our younger athletes took part in the u-9-U11 300m, 500m and 600m runs, turbo javelin and high jump events.
Tadgh McManus claimed the gold medal in the U10 Turbo javelin while Robyn Weldon claimed a bronze medal in the u-11 high jump.
The club also had seven athletes competing and putting in some great performances in the sprint hurdles. Lucy Morrison claimed a silver medal in the u-12 60m hurdles, Keelin Hetherton claimed a bronze medal in the U13 60m hurdles, Kacey McManus claimed a silver medal in the u-14 60m hurdles, Roisin Quinn claimed gold in the u-16 100m hurdles and Peter Bellew also claimed gold in the U16 100m hurdles.
On Wednesday evening May 10th, Cushinstown AC hosted the Meath Championships Cushinstown in javelin, shot and discus. After torrential downpours the rain eventually eased for the competition.
Our Cushinstown athletes did not disappoint with the following all claiming county medals, Keelin Hetherton gold u13 javelin, Kacey McManus u-14 gold, Annalise Harris u-14 javelin silver, u-14 boys javelin Casper Cudden gold, Conor Weldon silver, u-15 javelin silver Nessa Rohan, u-16 javelin Roisin Quinn gold, Peter Bellew gold, u-18 javelin Lee Callaghan silver, James Bellew bronze, Junior javelin Lee gold, James silver, Junior javelin Amy Callaghan gold, Amy Bellew silver, Senior javelin Amy Callaghan gold, Amy Bellew silver, Aoife Lenehan bronze.
In the shot putt we had u-18 Lee Callaghan silver, James Bellew bronze, Junior shot James gold, Lee silver. Senior shot Michael O’Sullivan gold, Junior shot Amy Callaghan gold, Amy Bellew silver, Senior shot Aoife Lenehan gold, Amy Callaghan silver, Amy Bellew bronze.
Not forgetting our masters where Phelim Joyce won gold in the shot put and Aileen Quinn a bronze medal. In the discus u-14 Kacey McManus gold, u-16 Roisin Quinn gold, Peter Bellew silver, u-18 James Bellew gold, Eoin McDermott gold in Junior discus, Junior discus Amy Bellew gold, Amy Callaghan silver, Senior discus Aoife Lenehan silver, Amy Bellew bronze, Michael O’Sullivan gold in senior discus.
