Another dry, sunny day with scattered showers later

Quite warm with further showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. That's the latest bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

This morning will be dry with sunny spells in the north and east, but cloudier with patches of mist in parts of the south and west. Scattered heavy showers will develop this afternoon and evening, most frequent over the north, west and midlands. Thunderstorms and spot flooding are possible. It will be very warm with light to moderate south to southeast winds. Highest temperatures of 22 to 26 degrees generally although sea breezes will keep coastal areas slightly cooler.

Any lingering showers in the north and west will clear early tonight, leaving largely dry conditions with clear spells and patches of mist and fog. More showers will move into the southwest later in the night and will be heavy at times. Very mild again with temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees, with light southeasterly or variable winds.

On Friday, showery rain in the southwest will extend northeastwards to most areas during Friday. The rain will be heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms are possible. Highest temperatures of 18 to 26 degrees, warmest in Ulster and north Leinster. There'll be a light to moderate south to southeast wind, occasionally freshening around showers.

Mostly cloudy overnight on Friday with scattered showers continuing, heavy at times. Some mist and fog patches developing too in light to moderate south to southeast winds. Mild with temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees.

Scattered showers will continue during Saturday and after a largely cloudy start, sunny spells will develop in between the showers during the afternoon and evening. Some of the showers will be heavy and isolated thunderstorms and spot flooding will be possible. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees with a light to moderate south to southeast wind.

Showers will die out from most areas during Saturday night, leaving clear spells. Patches of mist and fog will form in light to moderate south to southeast winds. Mild again with lowest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

Sunday will be another showery day with sunny spells. Some of the showers will be heavy and isolated thunderstorms and spot flooding will be possible. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees with a light to moderate southeasterly wind.

Showers will become isolated early on Sunday night, leaving mostly dry weather with clear spells for a time. However, rain will possibly move into the north and east later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in a light and variable wind.

Scattered showers are expected again on Monday, with longer spells of rain possible in the east and north. Some heavy falls of rain and isolated thunderstorms are possible too, which may cause spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees in a light to moderate, variable wind.

Little change expected midweek, staying warm with further showers.
