Jigsaw's Grand Tour team set out on their motorbikes yesterday, Thursday 15th June, to begin their 15,000km journey to visit all seventeen Jigsaw services nationwide in just 72 hours.
They are driving to and photographing each of the services across the country to raise funds for the free, confidential mental health services for young people that Jigsaw provide.
The enthusiastic motorcyclists involved are Damian Sheridan, Daryl D'Art, Dave Perry, Tony Golding, Ken McGrevey, Donal Doyle, Mark Sheridan supported by David Fee and Mark O’Riordian in the follow up van.
They commenced their travels from Joe Duffy Motorrad in Charlestown, Dublin at 8.30am and visited the Jigsaw service at Brews Hill, Navan, later in the day.
Rather than getting sponsorships from family and friends, this year the team "had a focus around getting businesses involved" said Damian Sheridan, Grand Tour organiser.
Joe Duffy Motorrad, the main sponsors of the event, have a number of reasons for supporting the team. "One of the biggest reasons for us would be the mental health aspect of it. And secondly we all have a passion for motorcycles" said Patrick, senior sales at BMW Motorrad.
Additionally to taking part in photoshoots and opening their store to the Grand Tour team, BMW Motorrad also donated 3,000 euro towards the fundraiser. "It's been absolutely fantastic to have them on board" said Damian.
As well as their main sponsor, the Grand Tour team have a media sponsor, Radio Nova.
Jigsaw offers advice and support to young people aged 12- 25 years old through both online and in person services. They make sure that young mental health is a national and local priority.
