Meath will have a big task to defeat Antrim in the Tailteann Cup semi-final.

Saffrons and Royals to meet in tasty Tailteann Cup semi-final

The long anticipated clash between Meath and Antrim in the Tailteann Cup will finally take place at Croke Park on Sunday.

The game pits Antrim and their manager Andy McEntee against Meath the team he managed for six years.

The two counties had avoided each other in the competition up to now but the fact that McEntee was in charge of the Royal County adds an extra dimension and considerable spice to the game.

The teams were pitted against each other in this morning's draw which took place on RTE Radio.

In the other semi-final Down play Laois.

Last weekend both Meath and Antrim continued on their winning ways in the Tailteann Cup. Colm O'Rourke's side defeated Wexford 2-23 to 0-12 while Antrim got the better of Carlow 1-19 to 1-15.

Both Meath and Antrim remain undefeated in the competition. McEntee's men have defeated Leitrim, Wexford, Fermanagh and Carlow while Meath have conquered Tipperary, Waterford, Down and Wexford.

The draw was also made for the preliminary quarter-finals of the Sam Maguire with Kildare down to play Monaghan, Cork v Roscommon, Donegal v Tyrone and Galway v Mayo.
