Showery day and week ahead on the weather front

Staying quite showery through the rest of the working week, though there will be some dry and sunny intervals as well.

Largely cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain or showers, most persistent during the morning. Some thundery downpours are likely to develop, especially in the east midlands, bringing a risk of spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate southerly or variable breezes.

Staying mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in very light southwesterly or variable breezes. Isolated patches of mist and fog may develop as well.

A fairly dull start to tomorrow with scattered showers continuing. In the afternoon, the showers will become confined mainly to Leinster with some heavy downpours possible. Most areas will gradually brighten through the day with decent sunny spells later in the afternoon and evening, although further outbreaks of rain may push in to western fringes by nightfall. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

Further outbreaks of showery rain will spread across the country on Tuesday night, most frequent in Ulster. Temperatures will fall to between 10 and 13 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.

Expect another day of scattered showers with the best of the dry intervals in the south on Wednesday. The morning will stay fairly cloudy with sunnier conditions developing for the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.

Becoming dry for many areas on Wednesday night with a few isolated showers lingering. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mainly light westerly breezes.

Thursday will bring a further mix of sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.

A cloudier day on Friday with more persistent and potentially heavy outbreaks of rain for much of the country. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in mainly light southerly breezes.

Current indications are that it will remain unsettled for the weekend with further spells of rain expected.
