Status Yellow warning for Meath with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected

A Status Yellow warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain has been issued for Meath and 16 other counties.

The warning came into effect at 8am this morning for Leinster, Waterford, Tipperary, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan and is expected to remain in place until 9pm.

Met Éireann said the heavy showers could lead to spot flooding and difficult travel conditions.

These weather conditions will continue tomorrow with possible heavy rain, mainly in Leinster.

However, sunny spells will occur in most areas in the afternoon with temperatures of up to 21 Celsius.
