Navan's Emma Brogan played her part in helping the Ireland Women's u-18 rugby Sevens team claim fifth place in the European Championships held over the weekend in Prague.

After a first day that included two wins and a close defeat to neighbours England day two began with a contest against the current reigning champions at this level, France.

Despite a huge effort, the Irish side were defeated 24-7. The defeat along with other results meant that Ireland missed out on a semi-final place and instead went into the ranking play-off round robin for fifth place.

The first round robin match was against Belgium with Emma Brogan getting the first of five tries for Ireland in a 29-14 win

The second and final game to seal the fifth place ranking was against Scotland, the Irish Women's scores seven tries in a convincing 43-5 victory.

With a total of 191 points scored (including 31 tries) over the course of the weekend. This talented squad acquited themselves well - and hopefully the team contains future stars of the game.

The overall competition was won by France making it back to back European u-18 Women's Sevens titles defeating Spain in the final 29-12.
