Massive turn out for Navan O'Mahonys annual outing

GOLF CLASSIC

Navan O'Mahonys hosted a full house for their annual golf classic at Royal Tara which was sponsored by Bridge View Dental Navan and TD Caldwell.

The Brews Hill club must have a direct line to the weather Gods because despite the recent spell of unsettled weather and often torrential downpours the 30 teams played mostly with the sun shining down.

On a day of brilliant scoring the Panda Waste team of Patrick Dinan, Ryan Crocock, Tom Duignan and Michael Buchanan posted an incredible return of 104 points but because two of their players didn't have GUI official handicaps they were exempt from claiming the first or second prizes and had to settle for third place.

The winners on the day were declared as Donal Mitchell, Aidan Blaney, Declan Corcoran and Myles McHugh with superb score of 93 points.

In second place were the A1 Read Electrical team of Donal Grimes, John Malone, Amanda Baker and Mags Kirk with 92 points.

Behind the Panda Waste team in fourth on 90 points, after count back, were TD Caldwell's team of Darren Caldwell, Ryan Caldwell, Conor McCarthy and David Quirke.

The unlucky teams to settle for fifth and sixth respectively on count back were Keating's Oil (Ciaran O’Sullivan, Olga O’Sullivan, Thelma Keating, Auden Keating) and the team of Harold Lawlor, Sean Clerkin, John Hughes and Jim Bannon.

Seventh place went to Gary Crinion, Richard Brook, Mick Moloney and King C Ong on 89 points, while Brendan Murray, Ciaran Murray, Gerard Murray and John Creavin were eighth on 88 points.

The nearest the pin prize went to the ace shooter Michael Sweeney Jr who dropped his tee shopt very close to the hole.
