Walterstown GFC have launched their Forever on the Fence project which allows people to have their names put on a sign surrounding the pitch.

On Tuesday, 1st August Walterstown GFC Chairwoman Ruth Chambers welcomed Minister Thomas Byrne and Meath County Council Chairperson Cllr Tommy Reilly to the club to see the improved infrastructure and facilities.

The upgraded facilities will be utilised by not only members of the club but also local schools in Johnstown and Lismullen, other sporting and community groups and by the HSE Day Care Service for the Elderly.

Walterstown GFC posted to their Facebook how essential the revamp was:

"Investment in our club infrastructure is vital due to our growing membership base plus the exponential growth in our community in Johnstown."

The works were part funded in the last round of Sports Capital Funding by Minister Byrne's Department, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

To help raise funds to complete their walkway Walterstown GFC introduced the Forever on the Fence project.

"By supporting Forever on the Fence, you will play your part in delivering a superb amenity for our members and members of our community in Johnstown and Walterstown. And not only that, by purchasing a name plate, you, your family or a loved one no longer with us, will be forever embedded in our club's history."

For €150 each you and your family will be Forever on the Fence at Walterstown GFC.

Numbers are limited to 176, so be sure to get in quick.
