Big numbers turn out for Kells Heritage 5k race

Kells AC hosted another great Kells Heritage 5k recently with a large turnout of athletes.

Just under 320 runners signed up and they were not disappointed. Like all Meath races the participants were very well looked after with sandwiches, cakes, teas and coffee.

Many local clubs such as Bohermeen A.C., Trim AC, Navan AC, Dunshaughlin AC Moynalty AC, Drogheda & District and many more were well represented.

The winner was Jame Sherlock of Bohermeen A.C.in a time of 17:52 Bothermeen had a clean sweep in the men's top three with John Carroll second and Conal Courtney in third place. Bohermeen with these in the top three also took the men's team award.

The women's race was close too with Laura McDonnell of Rathfarnham WSAF taking top spot in a time of 18:20. Siobhan McArdle was second and in third place was Ruth O'Loughlin of Naas AC.

Kells AC won the women's team award comprising of Ciara Shaw, Ciara Doran and Alison Clynch.

Age categories were awarded to senior, over 40, 50, 60, 70 for men and women as well as juvenile winners which were won by Harry Monaghan Bohermeen AC and Aoibhe McElwaine Navan AC.

Well done to Kells A.C. for a very well organised race.
