Navan women take to the bikes

Women from all over Navan gathered at the Ramparts for the Navan Cycling Initiative Boyne Cycle, as part of Her Outdoors Week.

Her Outdoors week aims to celebrate and encourage more women to get out and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors while bringing visibility to the opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor physical activity.

The group cycled out along the Boyne Road towards Slane, past Ardmulchan Castle, before turning under the railway bridge and joining the Ramparts and Broadboyne Bridge. From there the group cycled back alongside the River Boyne, a round trip of 14 kilometres.

This free event was led by Navan Cycling Initiative volunteers Alva and Mary, and supported by Garda Sabrina. The week is all about providing more opportunities for all women to escape to the outdoors and try something new. For such a tiny island, there are so many incredible outdoor activities on offer and this should be celebrated to the fullest, the organisers say.
