Leinster visit to Navan a chance to see stars of the future

Rugby fans in Meath, especially those who support Leinster, will have been delighted to hear that Leinster are due to play Ulster in a pre-season friendly on Friday 22nd September, 6.30pm.

Leinster played Ulster in a pre-season friendly in August 2016, also in Navan RFC so it’s a return to a relatively familiar stomping ground for Leo Cullen and his squad.

That game saw a youthful Josh van der Flier, Andrew Porter and Ross Byrne getting some game time ahead of the start of the 2016/17 season. They are now, of course, on their way to the Rugby World Cup with Ireland.

This time around the Leinster selection is sure to contain a plethora of young players looking to make the breakthrough and, no doubt, many of them will.

The Balreask Old game forms part of this season’s #12CountyTour which has seen Leinster Rugby host open training sessions over the last few weeks in Wicklow RFC, Clontarf FC and now take a pre-season game to Co. Meath and to Navan RFC.

After the game against Ulster Rugby, those in attendance will get the chance to meet the players and coaches of both teams and to get autographs and selfies!

Last year Leinster Rugby hosted open sessions in Athy RFC, Gorey RFC, Longford RFC, Wexford Wanderers RFC and Tullow RFC and more events are again planned for this season.

Other open training sessions across the 12 counties of Leinster will be announced in the coming months.

Which future stars of Irish Rugby will get their chance in Navan this time around?

Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchased HERE, while Navan RFC club members can purchase tickets direct from the club.

Attendance will be capped and supporters are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.
