Rathkenny who recorded an impressive win over Walterstown.

Wolfe Tones and Rathkenny show they mean business

The quest for championship success remains real for both Wolfe Tones and Wolfe Tones after both these sides won in a sun-splashed Pairc Tailteann.

In the SFC Paddy Martin's Wolfe Tones side deservedly marched to a 2-11 to 1-5 victory to book a place in the last four of the SFC.

Fiachra Ward and Oisin Martin both found the net for the Tones who led 1-5 to 0-4 at the interval.

In the curtain-raiser at HQ Rathkenny proved far too strong for under-performing Walterstown in the IFC.

Rathkenny, who are guided by Donal Curtis, ran out comfortable 1-17 to 1-10 victors with David Curtis helping himself to 1-1 while Keith Curtis registerd six points, three frees, one mark.

Ruairi O'Down finished superbly for Walterstown's goal but it arrived shortly before the end when the outcome was already decided.

So close so many times to winning the JFC in the past, Dunsany were sent tumbling out of the championship by Kilbride.

In the senior Ballinabrackey and Seneschalstown both ensured their status for another year with wins over Skryne and Na Fianna who continue to face the threat of the drop.
