Magician Cillian opens new Lidl store in Bettystown
EXPANSION Retail giant currently employs more than 110 people in the county across its stores in Ashbourne, Clonee, Trim, Dunshaughlin and Navan
Britain’s Got Talent Finalist and 14-year-old magician from Mornington, Co. Meath, Cillian O'Connor, joined the team at Lidl Bettystown last Thursday to officially open the new store.
As customers eagerly anticipated the new state-of-the-art store in East Meath, Cillian captivated the audience with a moment-in-time magical performance to remember, celebrating the newest addition to the giant German retail empire.
The new store has created 30 new jobs for the area and forms part of the Lidl’s overall commitment of 700 new roles in Ireland this year.
Speaking at the opening, Cillian said: "My family and I have been really excited for me to officially open our local Lidl store here in Bettystown. I've been working on my opening performance for the last few days. I love to make people smile and this morning I got to do that by sharing some magic with Lidl customers."
As part of the opening, Lidl provided complimentary vouchers to the first ten customers in line on the morning while the Bettystown store team also welcomed representatives from East Coast Family Resource Centre on the morning of the opening to accept a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers.
Having first opened in the county in 2004 in Trim, Lidl Ireland has become a pillar of the Meath community and currently employs more than 110 people in the county across its stores in Ashbourne, Clonee, Trim, Dunshaughlin and Navan. Not only will this new Lidl store bring significant local investment and new jobs to the local community, in addition, it will bring more fundraising for local Ladies Gaelic Football clubs, schools and charity groups in the area.
Commenting on the new Bettystown store, Store Manager, Clara Cassidy said:
“We are delighted to finally open our doors to the Bettystown community. Cillian O’Connor’s performance really added to the fun and excitement of the morning. The team have been working very hard behind the scenes to get the store up and running, so it’s great to see all our hard work pay off with a successful opening. We look forward to welcoming the local community to experience our new store in East Meath and to enjoy the experience of shopping at Lidl, with larger aisles, increased natural lighting and our well-loved bakery with freshly baked breads and pastries available every day.”
