Golf: Cadden's talent highlighted in recent run of rich form

Headfort Golf Club member Mark Cadden continues to make big strides in the world of golf producing impressive displays in tournaments at home and abroad.

Recently the talented young golfer claimed the Ulster u-16 Boys Championship at Greenacres. He made four birdies and a bogey in a three-under-par 67 to claim a super victory by one stroke from Ballinasloe’s Isaac Oliver.

Still only 16 Mark has represented Leinster and Ireland in various golfing tournaments – he was invited to play for Ireland in Italy last month and he is due to attend the Nick Faldo series in Dubai this November.

He has hit a very rich vein of form of late and his recent achievements include:

Winning the Ulster u-16 Greenacres Golf Club tournament in Belfast back in June he came third in the Irish u-16 shooting +2 +2 +2 in Lisburn in August 2023

He was eighth in the Leinster u-18 at the New Forest Golf Club, Westmeath in July and reached the quarter final of the Irish Boys u-18 at the Monkstown Golf Club, Cork the same month.

Mark was the u-16 winner in the Nick Faldo series at Mount Juliet Golf Club, Kilkenny and finished second overall in August. He has qualified for the Grand Final in Dubai which takes place in November this year.

He represented Leinster at the Interprovincial series at Ballykisteen, Tipperary in August also and also wore the green of Ireland at the Italian U-16 series in Biella, Italy

He has been selected for the Irish u-18 panel for 2024.

As well as being well known around Headfort Golf Club in Kells, Mark is also a member of Roganstown Golf Club in Swords where he is coached via the Hollywood Golf Academy.
