Volume I of Ballinabrackey GAA history to launch this weekend
Ballinabrackey GAA Club takes a walk down memory lane at their clubhouse on Sunday evening next to celebrate the launch of its new book, 'The Bracks - Our History'.
Volume One of 'The Bracks Our History' published by My Club History outlines the history of the Meath football club dating all the way back to 1884.
Ballinabrackey-raised author of the book, Seamus Brennan, dedicated over five years to create the ultimate time capsule for his much-loved home and community with the help of fellow clubman, Paddy Moore.
Seamus played juvenile and adult football with the club in the 1960s and '70s, winning two Meath junior football championships in 1972 and 1977.
The 477-page volume details Ballinabrackey’s adult games, juvenile competitions and other parish events throughout the years and it includes 165 photographs.
Seamus says: "I got so much enjoyment out of doing this. It was great to be able to commemorate the people who were in the club before I was even born, those I never even met.”
Ballinabrackey GAA is hosting an event to celebrate the book launch this Sunday 1st October, with broadcaster Brendan Cummins set to MC from 7pm at the clubhouse.
The club invites all past and present Ballinabrackey natives and friends to the event for an evening of reminiscing among friends. There’ll be tea, coffee, special guest speakers and the opportunity to pick up a hardback copy of 'The Bracks - Our History'.
The book will also be available to purchase online on Amazon.com.
Seamus Brennan confirmed that there will be a Volume Two to follow which will continue to share the 'Brack's story from 1973 onwards.
“I decided that splitting the book in two would be best so the second volume will be out next year. The follow-on volume will be from 1973 to 2020.”
