Tributes pour in for Tullyallen woman shot dead in New York suspected murder suicide

Tributes have been pouring in for a Tullyallen woman who was shot dead in an apparent murder-suicide in New York over the weekend.

The body of 39-year-old Denise Morgan from Co Louth, was discovered at an apartment in Queens in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to reports of gunshots in the Glendale area, and also discovered the remains of a 33-year-old man who was known to her.

In a statement, police say a firearm was recovered in the vicinity of the deceased male.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Tributes have been been paid to the Louth woman on Facebook.

The Cottage Bar Restaurant in New York, where Denise worked, said her sudden loss had left them "in shock and sorrow."

"It is incredibly difficult to comprehend the void left by her sudden departure. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our heartfelt condolences are for her family as you mourn this profound loss. We will always appreciate the person she was," the post said.

Denise’s sister Lisa Morgan said in a heartbreaking tribute: “We love you forever and always baby sister until we meet again, our lives will never be the same again.”

Shannon Morgan, paid tribute to her “beautiful sister” saying “we are absolutely heartbroken” and that “no words can express the pain we are dealing with now”.

She described Ms Morgan as “the kindest most sweetest soul I know” adding that “I’ve always looked up to her growing up and she carved me into the woman I am today” and that she is “so proud to call her my sister.”

“The world won’t be the same without you in it. I will never get over this or be the same again. We love you forever Denise,” she wrote.

In the Church of the Assumption in Tullyallen, prayers were also said for Ms Morgan and her family during mass.

Parish priest Fr Seán Dooley offered prayers of comfort as family and friends "go through the most horrible time in their lives".
