Púca packed full of immersive treats and spectacular shows
If you're hoping to see some of the major headline acts coming to Trim and Athboy for this weekend's Púca Festival, you'd better move with supernatural speed.
The four-day musical and culture extravaganza bursts into life this Friday with a stellar line-up that's expected to provide a €3m financial boost for the local economy and attract over 35,000 visitors to the two towns.
Now in it's fifth year, Púca is the immersive festival celebrating Ireland as the original birthplace of Halloween, and was developed by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Meath Co Council to highlight our unique Samhain heritage and encourage tourists to explore Ireland's Ancient East in the shoulder season.
From the opening procession in Trim on Saturday 28th October right through to the closing ceremony in Athboy on Halloween night, visitors will be immersed in the original and authentic spirit of Samhain.
Programme highlights across the weekend include music acts such as Macy Gray, The Charlatans, The Waterboys, Damien Dempsey, Hot House Flowers, Sharon Shannon, Jack Lukeman, Mack Fleetwood, The High Kings, Bingo Loco, Ennio Morricone Experience and Remembering Joe Dolan on his 15th Anniversary, and Davina Devine Drag Show. Comedy headliners will include Reginald D Hunter, Jason Byrne, Emma Doran, Gunther Introduces Waterford Whispers Live, Tony Cantwell, Shane Daniel Byrne, Sinead Quinlan, Sharon Mannion, Ross Browne and John Colleary along with support acts.
As Samhain historically marked the end of the harvest season, Púca Festival embraces the enormous wealth and quality of the local produce on its doorstep in the Boyne Valley. Visitors can expect to indulge in traditional barm brack, colcannon and baked apples at the Harvest Market, celebrating food, seasonal crafts, and casting a lasting spell on all the senses.
