Major award for Navan and District Historical Society

Navan and District Historical Society has won a major award for a project its members undertook to mark Heritage Week in September.

The event, 'Navan, its people and its past' held in the Solstice Theatre won the county award from the Heritage Council for the best event for the Meath Co Council local authority area.

A spokesperson for Navan Historical Society said they were delighted to receive the award and acknowledged everyone who had helped put it together. The spokesperson also thanked the Solstice Centre, Meath Co Council Heritage Office, and funding from the Irish Wall Town Network.

Mayor of Navan, Cllr Eddie Fennessy said: "We are very lucky to have a group of such calibre operating in the town. Our heritage is in safe hands."
