Griffin and Plunkett to bid for the chair

There will be contests for two of the top positions on the Meath Co Board at the forthcoming convention in O’Mahonys Clubhouse on Monday 11th December.

Jason Plunkett (Clonard) and Damien Griffin are in the race to succeed John Kavanagh who is stepping down as chairman after four years.

For the position of secretary Ciaran Flynn (Dunsany) outgoing is facing opposition from outgoing PRO Brian Kelly (Seneschalstown). There will also be a contest for assistant secretary with outgoing Nick Fitzgerald (Kildalkey) being opposed by Niamh Regan (Rathmoylon).

Alan Tormey (Gaeil Colmcille) is nominated for PRO along with the outgoing Brian Kelly. There are three nominations for the two positions on Leinster Council, Mairead Delaney (Dunshaughlin) outgoing, Martin O’Halloran (Rathmoylon) and Arthur Reilly (Boardsmill).

Conor Tormey (Donaghmore/Ashbourne) is set to be elected unopposed as Central Council delegate while Eamonn Barry has no opposition for the position of Coaching Officer.

Outgoing officers Paddy Kelly vice chairman, Gene Smith treasurer, Jim Mullery assistant treasurer, and Joseph O’Brien Oifigeach na Gaeilge, will all be returned unopposed at convention next Monday evening.
