Boyne players celebrate after their deserved victory over St Joseph’s.

Boyne CS prove too strong for the Saints to claim schools title

Boyne CS Trim 2-8

St Joseph's, Rochfortbridge 0-4

Boyne Community School claimed the North Leinster Second Years B FC with a highly impressive win against a heavily-fancied St Joseph's Rochfortbridge side at Kinnegad.

The game was low scoring in the first-half but was still very entertaining with some full-on tackling and hard-hitting on display. Ben Healy (two points) and Caolan Comey grabbed the scores in that opening act with Boyne leading at interval, 0-3 to 0-1.

The second-half started with Boyne hitting a real purple patch with Conor Hassett scoring 1-2 and Cormac Walsh notching a couple of lovely, skilfully-taken scores. A great team move ended with John McVann for Boyne CS scoring a superb goal which put the result beyond doubt heading into the last few minutes of play.

Lee Kearney put in a real captain's performance and accepted the trophy on behalf of his teammates.
