Navan's homeless drop-in service to provide hot Christmas dinners

This Christmas a kind-hearted husband and wife team will provide hot dinners to the homeless in the county.

Jackie McGovern Disney and Paul Disney officially launched their drop-in service for the homeless, The Joshua Project, on Navan's Kennedy Road in September.

The Joshua Project offers those who need it a space to shower, charge phones and avail of tea and coffee, sandwiches and other refreshments. Additionally thanks to the generosity of the local community, the service users can avail of warm clothes and shoes that have been donated.

The couple have also decided to provide Christmas dinner to the homeless in Meath.

Cllr Alan Lawes has made a short video appealing to the public to donate small gifts for those who will attend the drop-in service on Christmas.

He said: "What we're looking for is putting little presents under the Christmas tree. For example you could buy an aftershave or perfume set in any of the chemists around Navan."

He added: "It would be nice to have presents under the Christmas tree for the homeless on Christmas day. We love to make Christmas that little bit more special for the people involved."

According to Alan, they are expecting in and around 30 people for the dinner.
