Burst water main in Julianstown impacting supply

Uisce Eireann crews are working to repair a burst on a water main in Julianstown.

The burst is causing low pressure and outages for some homes in Julianstown, Gormanstown, Whitecross, Ballygarth Manor, R132 and surrounding areas.

Uisce Eireann says every effort is being made to restore the water supply as quickly as possible and while repairs were expected to be completed by late afternoon today, a second burst has hampered repairs and supply is not expected to be restored until tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage, especially those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Michael Cunniffe, Water Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann, commented: “We would like to assure customers in affected areas that we are working as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply for all customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have and thank customers for their patience while we complete the works.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications on planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
