Tara based driver Barry Rabbitt is part of The Irish F1 Show podcast nominated for 'Best Motorsports Podcast' in international Sport Podcast Awards 2024.

Irish Motorsport stalwart Barry Rabbitt is a co-host on Kevin Regan's The Irish F1 Show, which takes a light hearted angle on all things Formula 1.

Speaking about the nomination, Kevin Regan said:

“The Irish F1 Show came about after a chat with well renowned Irish racing driver Richard Kearney at the end of 2021.

“We kicked things off in 2022 and another of Ireland's top racing drivers, Meath man Barry Rabbitt, came on board as we became a three-piece, and soon after it became a quarter with another well known racing driver, Mike Dermody, came on board.

“The whole concept is a few lads having the craic after each race and some people have told us it’s a comedy podcast with an F1 twist!

“Somehow since then we’ve managed to get well known F1, horse racing and rugby broadcaster Lee McKenzie on, Conor Moore of Conor Sketches and RTÉ’s Peter Collins."

He added: “I’m basically doing this in a garden shed converted into a makeshift studio with the lads on a Zoom call, and yet with such limited resources, we’ve been shortlisted alongside Sky Sports, BBC, Red Bull and several others. This is beyond our wildest dreams. To be a finalist is incredible, but of course we would love to win it!"

The Global Sport Podcast Awards winner comes down to the votes of the public. Until 28th January voting is open and the winner will be announced on 1st February.

Voting can be done via the pinned posts on The Irish F1 Show's social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and also in sportspodcastgroup.com under the vote now section in the Best Motorsport Podcast Category.

Also delighted with the nomination, Barry Rabbitt said: “Coming from a motor-racing family, I’ve been watching F1 and surrounded by motor racing since the day I was born.

“So when Kevin asked me to join the Irish F1 Show, I jumped at the opportunity and now to be nominated as best motorsport podcast along with the likes of Sky, BBC and even RedBull F1 themselves is quite surreal.”
