Remote working hub for Bettystown library

A NEW remote working hub is likely to be included in the new civic building and library in Bettystown, which is due to open by the summer.

Cllr Stephen McKee said he has been lobbying for remote working hubs in the area to meet the needs of workers in the new post-Covid area.

"With many residents now working remotely, delivering community and business hubs in the area has never been more important.

"I am pleased that after raising this with senior council management, there is huge interest on their part in facilitating my request in the new civic building. Encouraging people to work from home or from community working hubs will mean less commuting with more time for family and leisure and a better quality of life.

"The new civic building and library will be an important new social and cultural venue for the area and will include a community meeting room, public library areas, study and multi-purpose rooms, a lifeguard station and public toilets."

He said the new facility had the potential to not only be a place for community use but also as a base for local people in business in the East Meath area who wish to avail of broadband, meet like-minded individuals and share ideas and support one another.

"With more and more people able and wishing to work from home, we need to also do all we can to ensure full broadband provision that they need both for work and entertainment purposes," he concluded.
