Works on the new burial ground for the Trim area are on schedule, and it can be expected to be open for the first burials in late May or early June 2024.

The burial ground will include a total of 2,400 single plots, a burial garden of remembrance including columbarium walls for interment of ashes, a caretakers buildings and public toilets.

A car park for 101 cars including accessible spaces will also be provided on the 13.5 acres site.

This multi denominational graveyard at Loganstown, Trim will be owned and operated by the council, similar to St Finian's Cemetery in Navan, St Declan's Cemetery in Ashbourne and Derrockstown Burial Garden in Dunshaughlin.

Pressure had been mounting in recent years to find a suitable site that could be developed as a new cemetery, as St Loman's in Trim had been facing capacity issues for the last five years.

Commenting on the progress made for the site, Cllr Noel French said: “I am glad that the site chosen was near to the town of Trim. Footpaths and road widening will assist with accessing the new graveyard. Car parking and toilet facilities will also be provided.”
