Navan man is co-opted onto Dublin council

A Navan man has become a member of Fingal County Council. Cllr Steve O'Reilly is the Dublin local authority's newest member, after he was co-opted as a Fine Gael member.

Navan native Cllr O'Reilly (29) will represent the Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart Local Electoral Area. He comes onto the council following the resignation of Punam Rane who had been elected in 2019. Living in Dublin for some years, he intends to bring his energy and dedication to the forefront as he has also been selected to run in the 2024 local elections in the Taoiseach’s constituency.

He says his journey is not just a political venture but a commitment to bettering the community he calls home. His priorities reflect a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs within the constituency, emphasising more affordable and social housing, ensuring access to quality education, improving public transport, combating anti-social behaviour, strengthening mental health services, and tackling the issue of litter and illegal dumping head-on.

"I am honoured to step into this role and represent my local community which encompasses parts of Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Corduff, Mulhuddart, Tyrrelstown, Hollystown, Meakstown, Lanesborough, St Margaret’s/ The Ward and rural areas," he states.
