Road closures to facilitate St Patrick's Day celebrations

Here's your guide if you plan on heading to a parade or just trying to get around it.

Navan's St Patrick's Day begins this year at 2pm from the Enterprise Centre, however road closures will be in place from 1pm that day. Roads that will face these temporary closures in Navan from 1pm until 5pm are as follows: Trim Road from the junction at Navan Enterprise Board to Railway St, Railway St, Canon Row, Abbey Road from the junction at Canon Row to Navan Garda Station, Kennedy Road, Trimgate St, Market Square, Ludlow St & Bridge St from 1.00pm to 5pm.

The Trim parade commences at 3.30pm from Newbridge on Ring Road with road closures in place from 1pm. From 1pm to 5pm, the R161-87, Market Street from its junction with Emmet Street to its junction with Castle Street will be temporary closed. The other roads in Trim which will be closed off from 2pm-5pm, are as follows: L8015-0 Patrick St from its junction with R161 Emmet St to its junction with R160 Ring Road, R161-87 Emmet St from its junction with L8015-0 Patrick St to its junction with Market St, and R898-0 Castle St from its junction with R161-87 Market St to the entrance of Castle Street car park.

Ballivor's second annual St Patrick's Day parade will commence at 12.30pm, entering from the Trim Road into the village with road closures in place from 11am. The R156-19 from An Gleib to St Columbanus National School will be shut until 3pm.

Kells' parade will begin at 3pm from the Fairgreen, however road closures will commence at 2.30pm. The closures will last until 5pm and are as follows: Cavan Rd, Circular Rd, Canon St, Suffolk St, Farrell St, Cross St, Carrick St, and Lord Edward St.

Drogheda's St Patrick's parade will begin at 12pm with road closures in place from 10am. The roads that will be closed off at 10am are as follows; King Street, Palace Street, Laurence Street, and William Street. The next following roads will be closed from 11.30am; Peter Street, West Street, Domonics Street, Shop Street, Wellington Quay, and North Quay. West Street between Duke Street and Peter Street will remain closed until 4pm while all the other streets will open at roughly 1.30pm.

Athboy's parade will begin at 12.30pm, heading up the main street. The parade committee said "while a delay (in traffic) will be incurred, there are alternative routes available. Kells Gardaí will assist with traffic flow on the day."

Kingscourt's parade will start at the Dublin Road at 1pm, making its way down the Main Street however the road closures will begin at 11am. From 11am until 2.30pm the R162 from the junction L68012 at Lisnagrow, Kilmainhamwood to Kingscourt will be shut. Vehicle will be diverted from the R162 along L-68012 towards R164 and from there to Kingscourt.

Slane's parade will start at 3.30pm at the top of the village beside the local primary school, and road closures to facilitate the celebration will begin at roughly 3.15pm. All roads into the village will be closed from 3.15pm until roughly 4.30pm.

Ashbourne's St Patrick's Day parade will begin at 12.45pm with road restrictions in place until 3pm.

Enfield's parade will begin at 3pm from the GAA grounds, making its way up the main street to the Bridge House pub. The main street between the roundabouts at both ends of the town will be closed from 3pm.
