Upcoming exhibiton a photographic peep back to our pandemic-hit towns
A PHOTOGRAPHIC Exhibition offering a snapshot into how the pandemic changed life in our local towns and villages will be on display in St Patrick's Hall in Dunshaughlin on the 11th and 12th May.
Focusing on Dunshaughlin and surrounding areas like Ratoath, Clonee and Ashbourne, the exhibition ,entitled "Our Communities through the Pandemic" by photographer Des O'Neill will offer a visual reflection on how these communities were affected during the Covid pandemic.
The exhibition will show moments like full lockdown, shopping experiences, long queues, transport systems through our towns, how businesses had to operate and how we had to live our daily lives.
"The idea was that I have photos that show different elements of how the pandemic effected our daily lives and how people went about their shopping, accessing medicines, having outdoor parties and what businesses had to do to reinvent themselves by going online," said Des.
"It's a snapshot of how really we respected the virus and how we greeted each other or not," he added.
"Although we endured three full lockdowns the same process of living was the same so by not repeating the same photos I just concentrated on our first lockdown and when first events hit us like empty streets and occasions like Christmas, Halloween and businesses reopening.
"It depicts in a simple way what happened in that period in our lives."
Des who is passionate about photography says he feels "very privileged" to be able to make his passion his career.
"There is a special magic in capturing beautiful moments, preserving them in time for future generations to enjoy," he added.
