Eamonn Armstrong in action during the All Ireland U20 clash between Meath and Kerry

Armstrong awarded player of the province award

Armstrong played an instrumental role in Meath’s first U20 Leinster Championship win in 23 years

Eamonn Armstrong has been named the EirGrid U20 Leinster Player of the Province. Armstrong scored the crucial opening goal in the U20 Leinster final, while also playing a key role in the second goal and adding two points in a man-of-the-match display.

The wing-back also scored the vital goal in Meath’s Leinster semi-final victory over last year’s U20 All Ireland champions, Kildare. Armstrong was selected in conjunction with the Gaelic Writers Association.

In the other provinces Shane McGinley of Roscommon, Charlie Keating of Kerry, and Gavin Potter of Tyrone have been rewarded for their standout performances in their respective EirGrid U20 Provincial Championships.

Chief Infrastructure Officer at EirGrid, Michael Mahon, commented

“Congratulations to Eamonn, Shane, Gavin, and Charlie on being awarded their respective EirGrid U20 Player of the Province awards. To receive individual recognition like this takes an incredible amount of effort, determination courage and is a true sign of their character.

"It is great to be able to recognise and award the fine performances displayed by these young men in a competition which continues to provide a strong platform for the country's young and talented footballers to showcase their skills and develop their potential, powering forward into the senior county ranks." said Mahon

"Well done to all our winners and thank you for making the EirGrid GAA Football U20 All-Ireland Championship such an outstanding competition. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for these exceptional footballers.”
