Oldcastle footballers aim to conquer the peaks

The Oldcastle Ladies Football Team is set to become the first team (male or female) to complete the 4 Peaks Challenge.

Over two days, the team will climb the highest peaks in each of Ireland's four provinces, displaying their physical endurance and team spirit.

The challenge includes Carrauntoohil in Kerry, Mweelrea in Mayo, Slieve Donard in Down and Lugnaquilla in Wicklow.

Each peak presents unique difficulties, from Mweelrea's rugged terrain to Slieve Donard's steep inclines. Despite these obstacles, the team is determined to succeed, driven by the same resilience that makes them strong competitors on the football field.

During the two-day event, they will encounter unpredictable weather and challenging routes. Team captain Nadine Wade acknowledges the difficulty: “It will be tough, no doubt about it. However, knowing we are making history together will keep us going. Every step will be a testament to our teamwork.”

In addition to testing their physical limits, the team aims to raise funds for Oldcastle LGFA. Their effort has gained widespread support, with the community rallying behind them.

This achievement by the Oldcastle Ladies football team is expected to inspire future generations, proving that determination and unity can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Their success will be a significant milestone for the team and the Oldcastle community, emphasizing the importance of resilience, teamwork, and community support.
