Meath Gardai investigating dog attack that resulted in a woman and a man being taken to hospital with a number of wounds

Trim Gardai have confirmed they are investigating a dog attack in Enfield that resulted in a woman and a man being taken to hospital with a number of wounds.

The shocking incident occurred at lunchtime on Wednesday close to the Gregory Inn on Main Street, Enfield, and involved two pitbull cross dogs.

At around 1pm Gardai responded to a call about a dog attack involving two pitbull cross dogs- a male and a female.

It is thought that one of the dogs bit and wounded a woman and then turned on a man that tried to assist her.

The man and woman were both taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, with a number of wounds and both were released that evening. The dogs were seized by the dog warden.

Inspector Sue Byrne of Trim Garda Station said that Gardai are actively continuing to investigate this serious incident and are appealing for witnesses or anybody who was driving by that area around the time to contact Trim Garda Station.

She confirmed that Gardai are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to the owner of the dogs.

This latest attack comes two days after Nicole Morey, a native of Limerick City, had returned to a home after celebrating her 23rd birthday and was attacked by her four dogs. Ms Morey died from her injuries. One of the dogs was destroyed at the scene and three others seized and later put down.
